SouthEastern Pathology is a thriving private practice located in beautiful northwest Georgia. SouthEastern Pathology is an established practice with seven pathologists and serving five area hospitals within a one-hour radius, as well as numerous outpatient clinics. We are a fun, energetic, team-oriented laboratory with over 40 employees, including 4 histotechnologists and 4+ aides. This is a full-time position, M-F, with shift flexibility.

Job responsibilities include:
  • Daily participation in routine histology bench functions – embedding, microtomy, staining, cover slipping, case assembly/distribution, and archiving
  • Assistance in CAP, CLIA, State of Georgia, HIPAA, and OSHA regulatory requirements, including departmental policy and procedure maintenance and record-keeping
  • Supply and inventory maintenance with invoice verification
  • Troubleshooting and correcting suboptimal slide and stain quality
  • Assorted clerical tasks utilizing Microsoft Office Word/Excel programs and LIS user interface
  • Experience with immunohistochemistry a plus, but not required

Lab Aide

This role includes the areas of specimen intake, data entry, specimen processing, basic instrument maintenance and departmental supply inventory and record keeping across all departments. Medical Laboratory Technician

Full Time
Monday - Friday: 7:30 am – 4:30 pm

Specialty/Department: Molecular Department


The person in this position is a licensed Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) who is responsible for day-to-day specimen processing, analysis and results reporting of our busy molecular department. This department is centered around Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, Trichomonas, and SARS-COV 2 testing. The person in this position performs the standard duties of a Medical Laboratory Technician with assistance from our cytology, molecular, and laboratory managers.

  • Receive and process specimens according to Molecular department protocols.
  • Assists the Supervisor, Manager and Director with administrative functions such as ordering supplies maintaining inventory.
  • Produces, interprets, and reports accurate and precise test results.
  • Identify and correct problems that may adversely affect test performance or result reporting of patient samples.
  • Communicates pertinent section information/issues to supervisor, manager, or another appropriate individual.
  • Performs instrument maintenance and method troubleshooting.
  • Addresses client concerns.
  • Assists in documentation and maintaining effective department QA/QC programs and monitors.
  • Must perform within the productivity expectations as set forth by current departmental guidelines.
  • Interpersonal communication skills required.
  • Bachelors or Associates Degree
  • National certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) as a Clinical Laboratory Specialist as a Medical Lab Technician (MLT).
  • Must hold a valid Georgia Medical Laboratory Technician License.
  • Maintains appropriate continuing education for certification and licensure.
  • One-year job-related experience preferred.

Pathologists' Assistant

SouthEastern Pathology (SEP) is a pathologist-owned laboratory in Rome, GA. We've served Northwest Georgia for over 40 years and have earned a wonderful reputation throughout the community. Our group of 6 pathologists is seeking an ASCP certified Pathologists' Assistant to join our team.

Workload: We have a workload that includes a specimen breakdown of 25% GI biopsies, 25% Dermatology biopsies, 25% large complex cases, and 25% miscellaneous. We see only a few autopsies per year.

    Basic functions of the position:
  1. Gross description and dissection of tissues removed at surgery, including selection and submission of sections for histological and other specialized testing.
  2. Summarization of patient medical history.
  3. Performance of post-mortem examination with subsequent dissection and dictation of data.
